A practical example.......

In our last post we shared with you the amazing testimony of Azindow, one of the Pastor’s that Abukari works closely with in the Yendi area. The Christian community that Azindow lives and works amongst also has a powerful testimony to tell and the following story is one example of the greatness of the Lord that we serve:

A traditional religious leader in the village where Azindow lives was not very pleased with the establishment of a church for the ‘Bible Church of Africa’ in his community. He complained that his eldest son had become a Christian and would therefore no longer serve the traditional gods and involve himself in related traditional practices. The spirits of the gods seemed to be powerless to bring his son back to the traditional belief. By calling on these spirits this religious leader has tried to destroy the church. In this way he hoped to make the church building collapse and scatter the Christians. However, all attempts proved futile.

The religious leader did not give up easily. He called on another religious to bring in more spiritual forces to fight against the church. This leader assured him that he would be able to destroy the church building within three days. He promised that the church would either collapse or a huge storm would blow of the roof of the church. At first the church was not aware of the presence of this religious leader. It was only after two days that somebody warned the church members for the intention of this religious leader. The church quickly came together and ‘whispered’ a prayer to God. Their prayer was: ‘God, if you are truly the God we serve, fight for Yourself.’ God answered this prayer. On the third day, very early in the morning some kind of confusion erupted between the religious leaders and part of the community to the extent that the people of the village chased the traditional leader out of the village. And the church building still stands! This experience has strengthened the faith of the Christians and their trust in God and has worked out the opposite of what the traditional leaders had in mind.

Please pray for this community of believers; that their faith will continue to be strengthened as they seek to serve the Lord in their daily lives.
