Bible Church

The Good News Bible Church (GNBC) - Ghana (formerly Bible Church of Africa) was established in 1978 as a result of SIM’s work amongst unreached people groups in northern Ghana.   Today, three decades later, it now has a membership of more than 5,000 believers in southern, central, and northern Ghana.

Our local GNBC congregations are actively involved in evangelism, church-planting, teaching and discipleship.  Most of our GNBC churches, in northern Ghana, are located in small, rural communities, where there has previously been no Christian presence.  In these communities, congregations usually range from 10 to 50 people.

As a regional pastor with GNBC, Abukari, together with a team of local Dagbomba and Konkomba pastors and evangelists, oversee about 24 churches in the Yendi district of Dagbon.  He also provides on-going monthly leadership training for approx 35 GNBC church leaders.  It is encouraging to see our church leaders grow and develop in their Christian faith and to see their commitment to serving the communities where God has placed them.  Annual training is also provided for Children’s Sunday School teachers in the district and, more recently, we have organised some District Women’s Bible study workshops.    As many of the church members are first generation Christians, discipleship and leadership training is vital in our ministry to help  church members mature in the knowledge of God’s Word.

Each church and congregation has its own unique story to tell about coming to faith in Jesus Christ and no two testimonies are the same – some of these inspiring testimonies can be read by clicking on the links below:

GNBC is committed to development in the community and we seek to demonstrate God’s message of love and concern for people through our daily lives and various development programmes, which include; The “She Goats” project (helping to provide an income to support a child’s education fees), small micro-finance loans for start-up businesses, establishment of a student hostel in Tamale for children from rural communities to stay whilst continuing their secondary education, establishing health education programmes.
