Building to worship!

For the last three months, church members in the Yendi area have been building two churches, one at Sambu and another one at Kanimo. The building work has been funded by local church contributions and a friend who wants to glorify God by helping to provide convenient and decent places of worship among the Dagomba and Konkomba people.

Since 1999, the church in the village of Kanimo has met under a tree for all their activities. During the rainy season church services and other meetings become difficult. During the dry season the "good tree" naturally sheds its leaves leaving little shade to sit under. We therefore decided to put up a church building to meet all the church’s requirements, as well as serve as a meeting place (centre) for the community in the area of health education and monthly weighing of children.

The church at Sambu was originally built with mud in 1996 and has fallen down many times due to harsh weather conditions, especially rainstorms. Each time we have repaired the damage, but this year it was beyond the repair (serious cracks and a ripped roof) and had become a death trap for the congregation. So with the same vision as Kanimo in mind we have also built a new Sambu church. We believe these strong churches, when completed, will be able to stand the test of time as well as testify to the presence and goodness of our risen Lord in these communities.

At the moment we have exhausted all the funds for the buildings and we therefore need your prayers for financial help to finish these two important and strategic multi-purpose church buildings. We still need about 7,000 Ghana cedis (€4,100) to complete the church buildings to the glory of the Lord. If you would like to support this project financially, please let us know. This is the breakdown of the cost of things that still need to be completed:
  • Cement and labour for plastering & flooring = GHC 2,800
  • Doors, Windows, Locks + labour = GHC 2,000
  • Paint + Labour cost = GHC 1,400
  • Electricity connection (for 1 church) = GHC 800
May the above items and their costs serve as prayer visuals for you as you pray with us.
